Fabulous sterling silver serving spoon by Whiting, C.1880. The length is 12 1/8". This wonderful spoon has an applied crab, with a copper shell. The leaves and stem are also applied, all on a hammered background with engraved leaves. The shaped, hammered bowl is nicely gold-washed, both on the front and the reverse. The condition is excellent. There is a pretty script monogram. The marks are 6 - the old Whiting symbol - STERLING.
